FH 4.18: Deteriorating Masonry

Masonry shall be manufactured and installed to prevent premature deterioration.

Masonry that is deteriorated, detached, or displaced shall be repaired.

Durability is dependent on the type of masonry and the conditions that the masonry is exposed to (e.g. salt, soil). The colour/texture of repaired areas shall match the existing as closely as possible when dry. Variation in colour may be noticeable when wet. Where colour variation of the repaired area is visible under normal lighting and dry conditions from 6 m, the colour shall be adjusted. Professional brick tinting methods are acceptable to adjust colour.
